1940’s Southern Belle

After having watched the Notebook a couple of nights ago, for the 100th time, I was inspired.  Allie’s style, played by Rachel McAdams, has always intrigued me. The movie was set in a 1940’s South Carolina town with a southern belle as the leading lady.  From her hair accents to her rompers, Allie has an elegant flair notorious of the rich elite of the South.  The 1940’s were defined by everything feminine and flattering which lasts whenever, forever.  BE INSPIRED.

My Style: The Definition of Me

with one comment

If you know me well, you know that this look can’t get any more Nadine.  I always play with trends and mix up my look and yet you’ll always see me go back to my original simple tailored look.  Are you thinking, what is there to this look?  My answer to you would be, some of the most stylish people we know, have the simplest looks ever. Examples include Carolina Herrera known for her never-changing white shirt matched with a black skirt, Tonne Goodman, Vogue’s Fashion Director, known for her classic american style and Karl Lagerfeld known for his black suit, white shirt, white pulled back ponytail and black sunglasses.

I don’t mean to compare myself with these fashion icons, but I want to share with you a lesson that I have learnt throughout the years.  It is always fun to play around, but once you stick to what looks best on you, you’ll exude confidence, comfort and most importantly style.

Shopping Bag: Tanning it

leave a comment »

I decided to add a new feature to my blog, the shopping bag.  It is a great way to track my favorite items and at the same time share them with you.  Hopefully, I’ll be able to go back to these posts and purchase some items online or when I travel.

The two items below don’t need much of an introduction, they speak for themselves.  Amazing, to die for, lusting over the both of them. The boxy bag is a Celine classic that will last a lifetime and the Louboutin boot is a not too rock star way of rockin’ the military look.

 I want want want!

My Style: Natty Nautical

Who doesn’t like the nautical look?  There are so many ways to wear it that no matter what your personal style, you can wear nautical.  I opted for the more tailored nautical look blended with a little Rachel Zoe.  Rachel Zoe because of the wide legged jean which I am very excited to bring back out from my old jean closet.  Wide legged pants are huge this fall/winter and I couldn’t be more excited.  I topped of the jeans with a white tank, my nautical stripped Zara blazer and a nautical inspired Uterque scarf.

My Romantic Retreat

with one comment

I am feeling very romantic and feminine these days, actually it has been since the beginning of 2010.  I want anything girly and delicate.  Whether it be a bouquet of pink peonies or vanilla cupcakes with pink frosting or a blush lace dress.  It all started when I got engaged and lace became ever more present in my wardrobe.  I started wanting more delicate furniture in my house instead of contemporary.  And the list goes on.  Therefore, I created inspiration boards to share.  BE INSPIRED!

Newly married Megan Fox chose one of my favorite designers, Azzedine Alaïa, to the VH1 Do Something Awards in Hollywood.  She wore a tan colored frock with matching Brian Atwood pumps and you can’t go wrong with either Alaia or Atwood.  I love that this dress is a delightful departure from her usual super sexy all-baring outfits.

The Tunisian born designer is a favorite among the world’s most influential fashion industry insiders. He is synonymous for his flattering dresses and avoiding the limelight.  I  wish I owned a little black Alaïa, someday I’ll save up for one, because his silhouette has lasted decades and will continue to do so.

Find wardrobe staples such as a little black dress or a white blouse or a camel coat and invest in them. They will never go out of style so quality and fit are vital.  BE INSPIRED!

Louis Vuitton Fall 2010 Ad Campaign

I am usually not the biggest Louis Vuitton fan, but the Fall 2010 collection is to die for, mainly because he brought the woman back.  Don’t get me wrong, I am a huge fan of the androgyny look, but I am always thrilled to see something different.  Marc Jacobs brought us back to the 1950’s voluptuous era.  Very Mad Man-esque.

My favorite part of the whole collection is the beauty pump.  I wish I could own the blue croc version but they are the price of a Chanel bag!  So I figured the satin version would be a little more affordable.  I can imagine wearing them now and storing them in my closet for when I am 40, 50 or 60 and they will remain to look chic.
