Working Chic

with one comment

(Zara Blazer, Top and Pants; Forever 21 Brooch; Louboutin Pumps)

Since I have been living in work clothes for the past four years and that will all change starting next month, I decided to tribute my first ‘My Style’ post to my favorite work outfit.  Boyfriend blazers are key items for any working woman, they are business attire appropriate at the same time trendy.  This grey one is my favorite.  A new recent work attire MUST are high-waisted cigarette legged pants.  I have them in black, grey, and beige and can’t take them off.  They do need a certain body shape and must be worn with heels.  The brooch adds a Chanel touch to my outfit, it is Forever 21, and the black silk belt adds a different texture.

I got a comment from a colleague of mine, a guy actually, that said my outfit reminded him of a famous designer.  I asked if it was Karl Lagerfeld and explained to him what he looked like, and his response was “YES, Exactly!”  He made my day.

PS.  Sorry the pictures aren’t the greatest of quality.  I will soon be fixing my camera or getting a better one.  Wish me luck!  If you have any suggestions of good professional camera’s please send them my way.

The Metropolitan Constume Institute Gala 2010

with one comment

The Oscars of the east coast, the Metropolitan Costume Institute Gala, is THE fashion event of the year in my opinion.  I always wait in anticipation to see what everyone is wearing and when I head to NYC, I make it a point to check out the halls of the exhibition.  Last year’s Model as a Muse was one of my favorite themes ever.  This year, the theme is American Women: Fashioning a National Identity.  The hosts of the night were Oprah Winfrey, Patrick Robinson of the GAP, and Anna Wintour, Editor-in-Chief of Vogue.  GAP is part of the American heritage and is a perfect match in my opinion for this year’s gala but how could GAP dress women for the red carpet?  I didn’t buy the high-end designers creating dresses for GAP.  Actually, I didn’t like the collaborations at all, maybe it was because I didn’t feel it was GAP enough.

I was impressed by the dresses this year, they truly defined American fashion which is simple, elegant, and modern.  Below are some of my favorite dresses.  The Calvin Klein clad ladies looked the absolute best, with my utlimate favorite being Dree Hemingway.

Designers and Disney

I love when fashion magazines play with designers’ personalities creatively to create a cool spread.  Spanish Elle has done it again with a spread of some of the top present day designers as disney characters; it was smartly named, ‘La Moda Animada’.  I always find these spreads artistic and witty.  Below are some of my favorites, enjoy!

Can you tell I am obsessed with Karl Lagerfeld?  The fashion designer, also a photographer, is known to capture extraordinarily fashionable moments defining fashion and Karl.  Aside from Chanel and his namesake line, Karl has again wowed me and the fashion world with the Fendi S/S 2010 collection.  This dreamy ad campaign for the collection is simply beautiful.  Anja Rubik, looks stunning, wearing two gorgeous cream silk dresses pictured with soft lighting in a divinely magical location.
